  Our connection with Alex and his family spans back to the 1980s, when our children were young. We attended the same church, where the kids grew up together in Sunday school and Greek school, sharing birthdays, holidays, and milestones. Over time, I grew very close to Alex and came to admire the deep integrity of his character. When life unexpectedly left him to raise his two young boys on his own, Alex stepped up without hesitation. Antony, especially, was so young and needed every bit of love and emotional support. Alex became both mother and father to them. He worked tirelessly to provide for his sons, never complaining, never placing blame, and never showing weakness. He faced every hardship with quiet strength, and we all admired him for it. His sacrifice was not in vain. Kostas and Antony grew into strong, well-educated men who built beautiful families and achieved great professional success. Alex lived to see his hard work rewarded, even as he faced the quiet onset of illness. Always a private man, Alex fought his battle with cancer with dignity, and we supported him from a respectful distance. In our final conversation, true to his optimistic spirit, he gently mentioned his oxygen levels. I understood what that meant and held back from calling again, fearing the news I dreaded—until the call finally came from Kostas and Antony. Καλό Παράδεισο αγαπημένε και καλοκάγαθε φίλε μου.
