I have fond memories of Charlie, playing his authentic Celtic instruments ( penny whistle and Uilleann pipes) in LITMA orchestra. Always ready to share his extensive knowledge of Irish folklore and music, his love of Celtic culture shone through in his upbeat smile as he would tell a story or joke or explicate a song. He helped shape the current LITMA orchestra repertoire, contributing many of the tunes. He and his beloved Maureen participated in many of the folk music events around the Island, with Maureen playing her beautiful Irish harp. Charile functioned as LITMA's resident historian and members would frequently refer to Charlie when a question regarding an Irish song or tune came up. Back in the 90's, when LITMA had a Newsletter, Charlie would contribute regularly with his column Tunes and Tales. Intellectually and artistically, he was a kind and gentle giant. - Rosemary Devlin, LITMA

Charlie was a good and kind man as well as a great source of interesting information about Celtic music. He will be missed and fondly remembered by those of us who played with him. Rusty
