Remembrances: My Uncle Dan was an extraordinary man who lived an amazing life. He served his country during the Korean War and then again served as a NYC firefighter who bravely saved lives and property . During my formative years I lived next door to him and observed that Uncle Dan was a loving husband, father, and uncle. My memories of him was that he was a great fisherman, history buff, sports fan, and Wall Street wizard. His storytelling is legendary and Uncle Dan and his stories will live on. Jo-Anne Daniels

Mr Daly as I knew him, was the quintessential father who you enjoyed visiting with during our childhood years in Huntington. Funny as all heck, willing to drive to roller skating on Friday nights and always telling firehouse stories. He was a quiet mentor to me personally and I appreciated his willingness to let us hang at his house in junior and senior high school. RIP Mr Daly. Dan Feeney

My sincere condolences to Dan's family and friends too. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work with Dan at E273/L129. Aside from being very good at his job he was possibly even better at being a people person. He was smart, quick witted and also a family man who often would talk about his family and listen to your stories as well. Really a great guy. -Rick McCarthy

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of grief. I'm so sorry for your loss and I'm going to miss Dan too. It's been a very long and lasting friendship that I wouldn't change for the world. He was a gentlemen, a good friend and a great fireman. I hope he is with his pal Al. Loraine Alacca
