Our families may have lived miles apart, but in true Italian tradition, the distance never dimmed the closeness we shared. Through countless gatherings, stories, laughter, and meals, we built memories that have stayed with us through every season of life. Even as the years passed and the miles grew between us, the bond remained—quiet, steady, and enduring. Today, as I remember Fred, I give thanks to our Lord for the gift of his life and for the love that flowed so naturally within our families. May Christ, who promises comfort to the grieving and rest to the weary, hold Fred gently in His eternal care. And may the peace of our Lord surround all who loved him, bringing strength, hope, and the assurance that love never truly ends. With heartfelt sympathy and prayers for comfort, Cousin Charles (Charlie)

There are some people whose names instantly bring you back to a wonderful chapter of your life. For me, Fred Sipala is one of those people. Our families shared so much throughout the 1960s and 1970s. What began as a friendship between two exceptional pilots—my dad, Bob Kessel, and Fred through the Civil Air Patrol—grew into something far more meaningful. Countless gatherings, laughter, stories, and memories became part of both of our families' lives. I have fond memories of Elaine, Fred, Helaine ("Pumpkin"), Adriane, Andrea ("Penny"), and later Angela, all of whom will forever hold a special place in my heart. Those were wonderful years that helped shape so many cherished memories. As a teenager, I even worked alongside Fred and his brothers during the Christmas season, unloading Christmas trees late into bitterly cold Long Island nights after school. At the time it felt like endless work, but today it's one of those memories I smile about because it meant spending time with such a hardworking family. Fred embraced life with remarkable enthusiasm. Whether he was flying, racing, or simply sharing time with family and friends, he lived with an energy that was unmistakably his own. That adventurous spirit is something I'll always remember. Through all the years, one thing never changed: whenever I spoke with my dad, one of us would inevitably ask, "How's Fred doing?" Their friendship endured for a lifetime, and that says everything about the kind of man Fred was. To Helaine, Adriane, Andrea, and the entire Sipala family, please know that the Kessel family holds yours close in our hearts. Thank you for being such a meaningful part of our lives and our memories. Rest peacefully, Fred. Your spirit, your friendship, and the memories you helped create will live on for generations. God bless. —The Kessel Family

We are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man. My dad treasured his friendship with your dad. Knowing they're sharing a beer together is comforting.
