My family met Helyn's unexpectedly as new neighbors in Pennsylvania during the early 1990s. Since then, Helyn has been more than a friend; she was a steadfast mom, devoted wife, and a beacon of strength through challenges that she endured in a way few could. Her sharp wit and rare warmth made her irreplaceable in our lives. Her culinary skills were unmatched—her table was always a place of comfort and conversation. I was always there for her, just as she was always there for me. Her absence leaves a void I know I will never fill. I already miss her, and I know that sense of loss will only deepen with time. I find some comfort in the hope that we will be reunited one day. Until then, I will continue to cherish the countless moments we made together, just as I did during her life.
