Obituary For James Cronin

CRONIN – James A. of Indian Land, South Carolina, sadly passed away on July 7, 2022 at 68 years old. Jim was formerly from Westbury, NY, where he grew up. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a Business Management Degree from Adelphi University.

Later, he and his former wife of 25 years, Susan (Strada), moved to Hauppauge and then, Commack, where they raised their two children. Jim was the cherished and devoted father of Holly Ann and James Matthew and loving father-in-law of Martin K. Fiala and Lisa Maria (Porcaro). He was an adoring grandfather, “Papa Jim”, to Thomas, Brooke, Jordan, and Alison. He was predeceased by Michael and Theresa (Doak) and his sister, Patricia.

Professionally, Jim was an Independent IT Consultant who successfully owned and operated three businesses during his life - Data Alternatives Inc., Systron, Inc., and New World Solutions, Inc. Personally, he was kind, creative, generous, and funny. He made many people laugh with his quick wit and smart sense of humor. He loved his family and was loved deeply in return. He was an avid life-long golfer, music lover, and concertgoer. He will be sorely missed by not only his family, but by his many friends, golf buddies, and former colleagues.

I first met Jim many years ago via Craig when I was handling the group insurance program for Systron, and we remained friends ever since. A genuine "good guy" with a big heart, big smile, a great sense of humor, and most important, great character. I feel blessed to have known him and I will miss him. R.I.P. Jim. -Denis

Jim was so nice to work with. He always responded so quickly and we had many laughs during my crazy tech meltdowns. My condolences. Louise DiMiceli

I knew Jim Cronin to have a big brain and an open mind. He was a truly cool dude. Maybe we will catch up on the other side. I hope you have a smooth journey to Heaven, where I am certain you are going....Craig Restle.

Jim Cronin was my friend. I met him through the Smithtown Landing Mens Golf Association. We served together on the board of directors. He was responsible for setting up tournaments and even wrote a computer program to manage the whole league. He was totally committed to making things right and worked hard to keep everything running smoothly. I was honored when he asked me to join his "off week" foursome and later "the grumpies". I was sorry to see him leave but happy he was moving to South Carolina to be near his son. In many ways Jim left too soon. I'll miss you my friend. Rest In Peace. Don Leslie
