Obituary For Janice J. Polimeni

POLIMENI - Janice J. on April 8, 2026, at 86 years of age. Janice loved to garden and cook for her family. She will be most remembered for the love she shared with her family, and her treasured poodle Ebony. Janice shared 67 years of marriage with her beloved Domenick, and passed just two hours before him. Cherished mother of Anthony (Tracey) Polimeni and Georgine (Ron) Napurano. Loving grandmother of Nicole (Justin) and Janlyn (Christopher) and great grandmother of Jaxson, Bryce, and Anthony. Sister of Georgia (the late Richard). Visitation Monday from 3 to 8 PM at Brueggemann Funeral Home - 522 Larkfield Road, East Northport. Funeral Tuesday, 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Of Padua Church, East Northport. Entombment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers are requested in memory of Domenick and Janice to Good Shepherd Hospice, in Port Jefferson. www.bfhli.com

    Having known Aunt Janice all of my life, I'm lucky to have many treasured memories of her. It's impossible for me to think of her without smiling. Kind, loving, generous, animated, beautiful, and hilarious are the words that come to mind when I think of her. Though I don't remember the very beginning of our relationship, I owe her a debt of gratitude for patiently taking care of the colicky baby I was and giving my Mom much-needed respite, even as Auntie J (as my Mom called her) was caring for her own one-year old little Anthony (my dear friend and "cousin" from birth). When I was young, I was in awe of her beauty, style, and class and wanted to be just like her. She always made me feel special, taking me to her salon for my first shag haircut (lol), inviting me to my first New Year's Eve party, shopping in Fanuil Hall for some of my college wardrobe. Our family gatherings were always fun filled with great food (she was an excellent cook); boisterous Italian yelling, laughing, gesturing, and story telling; and love and warmth. We weren't related by blood, but we were family. I know I'm not alone in saying I love and will miss Aunt Janice and Uncle Dom dearly. They lived a beautiful life and shared their love for life with everybody. May they rest in peace in the Lord's (and each other's) arms.

    Our neighborhood has lost the Man and Woman who raised ALL of our families. Domenick reached out, supported, coddled. Janice supported me, and all of our community in times of need. Anthony- it has been 50 years since I have spoken to you- but your parents have been a constant presence in our community. You are blessed. We are full of Grace for having known each of you.
