  My husband and I met Mr. John, when we bought our home 28 years ago across the street from Mr. John and Ms. Joanie. John was always the nicest person to my family. He always had great stories to tell us about Huntington and our neighborhood. When it snowed, he would come over with his snow blower and help us clear our mailbox and driveway. He was one of the nicest people I've known. My condolences to Joan, Sarah , Jessica and the entire family. May his soul rest in peace 🙏🏽 Rupert, Donna and family.

  I had the pleasure of being John's neighbor for 28 years. When my wife and I first bought our house in 1998, directly across from John and Joan they welcomed us to the neighborhood with open arms. John was always so helpful, clearing the snow for me when I wasn't home so my wife and sons could get out of the driveway. He always watched out for our house when we went away, he was always willing to help with any project that I was doing outside ( I'm not very handy). John was awesome family man, he embodied and lived the lives of a true American patriot, a husband, father, grandfather,brother, uncle a true man. May his soul rest in eternity with the Lord.   We have lived in Greenlawn since 1972. Unfortunately we did not have the pleasure of meeting John until I joined the ranks of VFW Post 9263. One of the very first meetings I attended I met John. John had the ability to make you feel like you had known him all your life. To me he was like the town historian he was an open book of knowledge about the area. It was an honor to have had him as a fellow comrade. He will be greatly missed, the world was a better place because he was in it.
