My family and I have known Joe for as long as we can remember. Hearing his whistle from the backyard throughout the day was one of the many joys and comforts he would bring. Having Joe and his family as our neighbors for over 30 years was a blessing. We will always love you "Joe Next Door"

What a blessing to have Joe as our neighbor since we moved onto the block 15 years ago! Joe always greeted us and everyone who passed by with a smile and a warm word. We enjoyed him when he was home, and missed him when he was away. We appreciate how he would mow our lawns or shovel (and even plow) our walks... with a smile. We enjoyed the conversations, spiced by his humorous stories. Joe was always doing, but unassuming. Always giving, never judging. We'll miss him. Our heartfelt condolences to Joan and the family. Avi and Shaindy

I first met Joe when he was dating my sister when I was 16 years old so I have known him most of my life. When his children were young, they used to call me Aunt Dory and Joe continued to call me that throughout my life and I found it endearing. After moving away from New York, I always looked forward to visiting with my family as we were welcomed with open arms by my sister, Joan (Sis), and Joe. His family became my family too. He was such a family man - always doing things together- vacationing, working and loving all members equally. He maintained his friendships throughout his life and holidays were always a mix of family, friends and community. His neighbors were often on the receiving end of his generosity of spirit - he mowed their grass, shoveled their walkways and helped with repairs when he could. He was always thinking about others, talking all afternoon with a neighbor or a passerby. Always the prankster, he would do anything for a laugh - wear crooked front false teeth for instance and put on a funny accent. Joan and Joe didn't always see eye to eye but they were a perfect couple together- each with their own strengths. Joan was his support through tough times and was there to join his laughter and make him laugh too. So many good times to remember - vacations together, happy holiday gatherings and everyday life moments. He is one of those men that people say was taken too soon. That's because he had so much left to give. What he left us with is the knowledge that he lived his life well and loved well. His family always knew that he loved them and they loved him back. Joe will not be forgotten.
