Among her many talents, Laura was a wonderful teacher. For several years, she taught Empire State Fellows how the state budget worked (or didn't) and shared great stories and a lot of wisdom (and humor) about New York government and how to use it for good purposes. The fellows are in NYS government and all around the country. I also loved listening to her.

I chose a white candle to remember Laura. She was undoubtedly brilliant; but beyond that brilliance, she was pure. Pure in intellect, discovery, service and action, and always with a human touch that set her apart. Elegant. She was that and more, exuding a quiet confidence that matched her abilities, which she always carried forward with great style. She accomplished much in her short life, and how fitting, for who could have known that she would grace this earth for such a brief time? Had it been known, there would have been so much to do, but she did it anyway; each and every day . . . Admired, respected, and much loved; what better epitaph for a wonderful woman who will be sorely missed and will serve as a wonderful role model for many years to come. One who fiercely loved her family and friends, her colleagues and the causes to which she devoted her life — rest in peace, Laura, well done.

Her sincerity, excellent leadership skills, and dedication to higher education were just a few of her fine qualities. I will miss her. Wendy Robinson: Past President, Helene Fuld College of Nursing.

We at Boricua College are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Laura L. Anglin. During my tenure on the Board of CICU and President's meetings, Laura always expressed interest in how Boricua College was progressing and was always ready to offer her support and guidance. She was extremely intelligent and beautiful, and the City of New York has lost a great leader and public servant. Last week Thursday, October 13, my senior staff and I were remembering her and I promised that I would write a note to say hello. Little did we know she was passing that very same day. Descansa en Paz.

Marcia and I just got back from Popham Beach near our home in the mid-coast of Maine. We took a walk that we did many times with Laura on her visits up here and on a beautiful day that reflected the joy of friendship she brought to our lives. Although not keen to be on the water, she loved the shore and we looked forward to her visits ... time to talk about our days in the Assembly, cooking, and cats. A mentor and a great friend, we are grieving her loss. Stephen and Marcia August
