Judge Ohlig, one of the first amazing judges I worked with in District Court, Hauppauge, Dennison Building, 1988-1990. An endearing moment when I was with my daughter and happened to meet the judge in a shopping center, and he in his plaid shirt. He was a regular guy and my daughter was so impressed that he was a judge taking the time to stop and talk to us, being so kind and friendly. That was judge Ohlig. A great guy. It was such a special moment for us and my daughter wound up working in the court system and I wound up putting in my time and finally retiring. Thank you Judge for that special moment.

I tried my first case in front of Judge Ohlig - District Court, 1991. He was a mentor to me; a source of wisdom, encouragement and humor. We later found out we had a family/friend connection, Judge Ohlig knew my Uncle Police Officer Charlie Brexel. Judge Ohlig officiated at my wedding. I am very sorry for your loss. Please know that your Dad made a difference in many lives; I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor. Amy Boyle Geisel, formerly a partner with the law firm of Pinks, Arbeit, Boyle & Nemeth, Hauppauge NY.

Dad, this is a huge loss for our family! You were a huge presence & a wonderful father. I will miss your sense of humor most of all & (I can't believe I am saying this), but your Rodney Dangerfield routine was priceless! RIP Dad, I love you! 💔💙

Judge Ohlig was larger than life. Loved his family. Loved his country. And loved his community. And was a well respected Judge in our County. He was a mentor to many, myself included. And I am proud to have been a young prosecutor before him in the early '90s and to be able to call him my friend. Rest in peace Your Honor.

I first met Lou in 1975 when he was Deputy Zone leader of the Republican Party for the East Northport area. He along with others taught me a lot about politics. Lou was a tough but very fair judge not only in the district court but also later on the county court bench. A true family man and dad. He will be missed Larry Cregan

I will never forget you and Barbara, best friends since we met in 1966.
