She is Gone By David Harkins You can shed tears that she is gone Or you can smile because she has lived You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left Your heart can be empty because you can't see her Or you can be full of the love that you shared You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday You can remember her and only that she is gone Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. You were a cherished friend and I am so grateful for all the times we spent together. I will never forget you.

Mary was one of my life's most quirky and constant individuals. I loved her and her "tell it like it is" opinions -- was such a pleasure to hear her express what everyone was thinking but were afraid to voice. She was brave and courageous in the face of problems and always had a smile on her face and "bail money". She will be forever missed. I am so glad I met her through our VNS efforts and activities. My sincere condolences go out to her family. Barbara Mattera

My heartfelt condolences to all who share in the loss of this special lady. Mary brought such a light to the world of hospice for 17 years, it was my honor and privilege to work with her, and learn from her, not just about hospice but about life, she had a unique outlook, and always told it like it is, with a twist of goofy humor. Mary made sure I always knew her "bail money was in the underwear drawer". I will keep your spirit alive crazy Mary and carry on that special light of yours. Love you to Carvel and back 11 times... Honey bunnie Bonnie
