On February 17, 2023, Phyllis Collins passed away peacefully of natural causes. She was 91 years old. Born Philomena Theresa McPartland in Maspeth, New York, Phyllis married James Joseph Collins in 1953. Together, the couple raised six sons, living mostly in Massapequa, NY. Phyllis was a devout Catholic and enjoyed going to church on Sundays. Phyllis loved spending time with her friends, going to see to live music, singing, and playing the piano. She loved her Irish heritage and was a lifelong member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. There was nothing Phyllis loved more than spending time with family. She was a loving grandmother to eight granddaughters and one grandson. In the last 18 months of her life, she loved holding and playing with her beautiful great-granddaughter Genevieve, who filled Phyllis with joy. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 46 years James J. Collins and her four siblings Margie, Gene, Donald, and Eileen (Sister Mary Ambrose). She is survived by her sister-in laws Maureen Collins, and Dolores McPartland her six sons: Kevin, Michael, Christopher, John, Steven, and James, her three daughters-in-law: Nancy, Carolyn, and Annmarie, her nine grandchildren: Marissa, Shannon, Michaela, Jacqueline, Steven, Elizabeth, Edith, Lovinia, and Astrid and her great granddaughter Genevieve.
