Steve brightened the lives of all of us. Mike and first met him and Ruth at the Christian Book House in Huntington Station when our girls were really little. They always made it so much fun for children to come to that bookstore. During that time they got materials for a Spanish man who later became a pastor of a Spanish church with a great outreach. Steve and Ruth had a lot to do with the success of his ministry. Steve and Ruth were on the lookout for ways to minister for the Lord to the people that came into the church bookstore also-taking time to talk to friends and strangers, getting the right book or music or card or gift for each of us. Steve was such a help to me in getting materials for women’s ministry and books for counseling. He was a great promoter of all things to glorify the Lord. Steve was an encourager with a kind and true word, perfect for each one and each occasion. He was ingenious when it came to promoting the bookstore and making things affordable to encourage spiritual growth in each of us. He was a hard worker. He and Ruth made that bookstore a success for so many years. If you knew Steve for five minutes, you probably heard about his family. He loved showing pictures and talking about his children and grandchildren. God, Ruth, his family… these are what Steve centered his life around. He was, and will always be, an inspiration to me.

What a wonderful man and a beautiful legacy . Growing up going to the church bookstore, I was always greeted by Steve's smile and humor. When I became close with his granddaughter Kirsten, I affectionately would call Steve Pop-Pop, because he made me feel like family. So many great memories of playing PIT abd other games around the dining room table. We will miss you Pop-Pop, but we celebrate that you are now home with Jesus!
